In support of those working to end the atrocities in Darfur, Elders Desmond Tutu, Graça Machel, Jimmy Carter and Lakhdar Brahimi travelled to Sudan to meet with a wide segment of leaders and civil society. Their report presents an action plan to galvanize the international community into bringing an end to the region’s suffering.
We chose to go to Sudan for The Elders’ first mission because we could not turn our
eyes from the humanitarian crisis, and we wanted to join with the many people around
the world who have worked to stop the atrocities, protect the people, and contribute
to peace.
