Nuclear weapons - What do The Elders believe?

• Our position

  The Elders firmly believe in a world without nuclear weapons. They urge political leaders everywhere to fulfil commitments to work towards the reduction of nuclear arsenals - with the ultimate objective of eliminating stockpiles altogether.

  The Elders also endorse the goals of several international movements working on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament. Many of The Elders actively support Global Zero. Gro Brundtland served as a Commissioner in the International Commission on Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (ICNND), an initiative of the Australian and Japanese Governments from 2008-2010. Lakhdar Brahimi was an Advisory Board member of the ICNND.
