Desmond Tutu arrives in Cyprus on Elders visit

Alongside his fellow Elders Jimmy Carter and Lakhdar Brahimi, Desmond Tutu arrives in Cyprus to support the peace talks and "say that the world wants this island to find peace – we wish it with all our hearts." This article first appeared in the Famagusta Gazette.

Three members of The Elders arrive in Cyprus later today to meet political leaders, civic society representatives and young people from the island’s Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities.

According to a press release issued by the Elders Organisation, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former US President Jimmy Carter and former Algerian Foreign Minister Lakhdar Brahimi “aim to lend their support and encouragement to those working towards ending the island’s decades of division”.
