Jimmy Carter, Hina Jilani and Mary Robinson will be in Paris on 22-23 April 2014 for meetings with the French government and civil society, as part of The Elders’ visits to major capitals. They will also hold a public discussion with young people and activists on climate change.

Three members of The Elders will visit Paris (France) on 22-23 April 2014, as part of the organisation’s series of high level visits to major capitals. During their short stay, they will hold meetings with the French government and civil society organisations.

The Elders participating in the visit are:

  • Jimmy Carter, former US President;
  • Hina Jilani, lawyer and human rights defender from Pakistan;
  • Mary Robinson (delegation leader), former President of Ireland and current UN envoy for the Great Lakes region of Africa.

On 22 April the Elders will meet with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius to exchange views on areas of mutual concern and interest, including climate change and the Central African Republic.

On the same day, the Elders will hold a public discussion with young people and climate activists at Sciences Po, calling on youth to hold governments and world leaders to account in the lead up to the major climate conference (COP21) in Paris in 2015.
